This course focuses on lightweight construction. Because of the need to reduce energy consumption, construction is becoming lighter and the market has a steadily growing demand for weight reduction in automotive construction. Design requirements are continually growing: engineers have to make more and better calculations and run more simulations to produce reliable predictions of payload and durability.

  • Finite element theory in combination with linear algebra

  • Lightweight construction in combination with advanced materials mechanics including mechanics of composites

  • Practical Abaqus – CAE intro and composite materials

  • Design and production in composite materials and sandwiches

  • Project : Design, production and testing (validation) composite beam construction

  • Guided tours with lectures at 10 production companies that put lightweight vehicle construction into practice

  • Practical Catia-CAD for composites
